LicenceWait is an independent, community-driven website that collects and displays crowdsourced UK driving licence processing times. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), His Majesty's Passport Office (HMPO), or any UK government department.

LicenceWait is part of the WaitTracker family of sites, which also includes PassportWait.

What Data We Collect

When you submit a report on LicenceWait, we collect the following information:

• Application details: application type, method, date sent, processing office, DVLA tracker status, and any complications or notes you choose to share.
• Email address: used solely to send you a link to update your report when your licence arrives. Your email is never displayed publicly on the site.
• Display name: an optional name or alias shown alongside your report in the public feed. You may leave this blank to remain anonymous.
• Newsletter preference: whether you have opted in to receive occasional updates about LicenceWait.

We do not collect passwords, payment information, or any government identification numbers. No account or login is required to use LicenceWait.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used for the following purposes:

• Displaying anonymised processing times: your application details (without your email) are shown in the public reports feed and used to calculate average processing times, trends, and statistics.
• Sending update links: we use your email address to provide you with a unique link so you can update your report when your licence arrives. This helps us calculate actual processing times.
• Newsletter communications: if you opted in, we may send occasional updates about LicenceWait. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your data based on your explicit consent, which you provide by ticking the consent checkbox when submitting a report. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data (including your email address) with any third parties for marketing purposes. Your email address is never displayed publicly on the site.

Anonymised, aggregated statistics (such as average processing times and report counts) are displayed publicly on the site. These statistics cannot be used to identify individual users.

Your submission data is retained for as long as it remains relevant to the LicenceWait community. Update links expire after one year. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
